An Aboriginal painting has been stolen from the National Gallery of Australia! The thief is an expert in Aboriginal art and culture. In order to track him down and open the box to retrieve the painting, you will need to educate yourself in Aboriginal art and culture in order to solve his puzzles.
3-DIGIT LOCK = 2-4-0
4-DIGIT LOCK = 6-3-9-2
ABC MULTILOCK = S-T-O-R-Y
DIRECTIONAL MULTILOCK = LEFT-UP-DOWN-LEFT-RIGHT-DOWN (students only need first 5 directions using Multilock)
LOCKS APP = S-T-A-R
Lock the large Breakout box with the hasp, 3 digit lock (240), word lock (story), key lock (key behind painting), and 4 digit lock (6392).
Print the following resources: Map, Daku’s directions, QR codes, Namatjira Information, Paintings
Put the “Our People” document and the page of symbols on the flash drive. Put the flash drive and the UV light in the small box, and lock with the directional lock (Left, Up, Down, Left, Right, Down).
Create a text lock on the iPad. Text to open the lock is “star” and it should open the following link: https://www.reconciliation.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/NRW2014_3-June-Mabo_FactS.pdf
Tape the QR code to the bottom of the box.
Create a “Namatjira Gallery” on the wall. Include a few paintings along with one from the email.
Use the UV pen to draw the symbol for “star” on the Namatjira page. Put this page along with the map and Daku’s directions into an envelope for the first set of clues.
The Namatjira page is a Google doc, so you can change the email on it to anything. Whatever email address you use, turn on vacation settings and use the response: “Have a look at my favorite painting.” Attach a picture of the painting you will be hiding the keys behind. Hide all keys behind this painting. (I recommend numbering your locks and keys so you know and the students will know which key opens their lock).
Email email@example.com if you have any questions.
